Flowers Delivered In Hampshire
Hampshire, Hants and Southampton all derive from the same origins, despite their slightly different spellings. Southampton was originally just Hamtun, or 'village town', and Hampshire developed from this - literally the 'shire of the village town'. An early variant spelling was Hantescire, hence the unusual spelling in the present-day shorthand form of the county's name, Hants. At times the county has even been known as Southamptonshire, giving it the mouthful name of 'shire of the village-town in the south'. For the present-day flower delivery Hampshire addresses receive, either 'Hampshire' or 'Hants' should suffice.
Like most places in England, the Domesday Book really cemented the county's name - proven by the shortened form's spelling to this day - but occupancy in the area dates back much, much further than its 1086 publication. In fact, it is believed that parts of Hampshire have been occupied for at least 12,000 years. With modern-day flower delivery Hampshire households can receive a Heritage bouquet of timeless blooms, and pay tribute to the lengthy history of the region.
